Meet the Team

  • Aaron Etzler
    Mr. Etzler is a graduate of Texas State Technical College-Waco (Associate of Applied Science-Biomedical Equipment Technology), University of Houston-Victoria (Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences) and University of Houston-Victoria (Master of Education-Counseling). Mr. Etzler and his wife have three daughters, all currently pursuing their collee degrees. He has been in education for over 20 years.
  • Kristin Freytag
    Kristin Freytag received her B.S. in Education from Texas A&M University. She taught English for 18 years before returning to school to earn her M.S. in Professional School Counseling from Angelo State University. She and her husband, Chris, have three children, all students at HISD. Advocating for students’ social/emotional, mental, and academic needs is her passion and she loves being a school counselor.

Mission Statement:

The counseling department at Hallettsville Junior High School will provide a comprehensive program guiding studnet to become effective communicators and creating socially and emotionally balanced individuals. Through parental and community involvement, students will be enabled to further their career goals and build a set of transferable skills producing campassionate, global citizens.

 

Program Services:

  • Small counseling sessions, with parent permission, focusing on: divorce, grief, study skills, friendship/social skills, and anger management
  • Individual meetings to help students adjust to school or help with personal issues on an as needed basis
  • Classroom guidance lessons with emphasis on personal/social skills, bullying prevention, academic development (study skills), and career awareness. We will see every class in the building at least once a month
  • Referral assistance to other programs and services in the community
